Meaningful Coincidence, Serendipity, Prophecy and Inspiration and Destiny.

It is all woven together in the life and writing  of Arthur C Clarke. 

He wrote a tale about a fictional extra terrestrial intelligence... as part of the proof that his life was orchestrated by a real extra terrestrial intelligence...so his stories really did predict the future

But He died without ever realising.  But he ran away from the truth...

Clarke is a man whose life is threaded through with the cross-connecting elements of meaningful coincidence. He has for very many years been intrigued by meaningful coincidence. He talks about it in his book The View from Serendip and gives a particularly relevant example in a closing chapter to Hammer of God. Of course, his biographer in the comprehensive study……FILL IN……(** Then in trying to fill this in, I found The Mysterious World of Arthur C. Clark) LINK……doesn’t mention it at all. He obviously thinks it is not scientific – more fiction than all the science fiction of Arthur’s huge output.

Was it destiny that took Arthur to Ceylon in 1956, an island whose original name was Serendip? Horace Walpole’s 1754 novel, The Prince of Serendip, was the first book revolving around the concept of meaningful coincidence. The three princes enjoyed fortuitous, meaningful coincidences.

Thus the term ‘serendipity’ came to be coined, a phrase synonymous with meaningful coincidence, until overtaken by Jung’s term ‘synchronicity’. Unfortunately, that is the term which is used most widely today. It is suggestive of an understanding which was present neither in Jung nor his descriptions. Jung did nothing more than draw attention to a real phenomenon and give a name to it, and not a particularly good one at that. It has even reached the stage now where New Age, Jungian devotees now call a coincidence ‘a synchronicity’. But as Jung had no time for God in his psychologist’s universe, synchronicity is a term I decline to use. Serendipity at least is a neutral term.
Jung defined Synchronicity as ‘an acausal, connecting principle’. My research over the past twenty years, and especially the last five, has shown that definition to be seriously flawed.

Acausal means ‘without cause’. But there is a cause and that cause lies beyond any of our theories of space and time. That cause is God. He chooses to use meaningful coincidence to communicate to us knowledge, which we cannot gain from other sources, concerning truth about this world and truth about the next. He tells us things in time from outside time.

In many ways, Arthur C. Clarke’s work embodies the four main elements of our research – meaningful coincidence, prophecy, inspiration  and destiny. Only the two most important elements are missing – life after death and God. With regard to prophecy, Arthur has been called the Prophet of the Space Age, but my interest is more in his unwitting prophecy, as evidence of inspiration from some Higher Mind. More of his books link into our research than those of any other writer. There is the short story, The Sentinel of Eternity (1948), 2001, A Space Odyssey (1968), Rendezvous with Rama (1973), Imperial Earth (1975), The View from Serendip (….) and most recently The Hammer of God (1992 and 1993).

In the 1948 short story, The Sentinel of Eternity, set 50 years in the future in 1996, a mysterious structure is found on the moon, a carefully finished pyramid. It has no sign of meteorite bombardment, yet is dated as perhaps 3 million years old. It has been put there as a sign, to see what ‘other intelligent life forms’ make of it. In the case of man, the answer was “not a lot”. To get into it, they destroyed it. But that says much for the precision and wisdom of man. To me, the Sentinel stands as a clear parable for God, the real Sentinel of Eternity. In fact, Man has yet to properly understand even the pyramids of Ancient Egypt.

God puts meaningful coincidences in our paths, but only if we are worth it. He does this, in part to help us, in part to see what we will make of them. 99.9% of humanity ignores them altogether; a similar proportion behaves in their lives in general as if there is no God.

2001 - A Space Odyssey was written between 1966 and 1968 as the detailed story for the dramatic and memorable film. The novel developed as the film progressed, but in fact, the novel diverges from the film in several important ways. As a result, the film lost much visual impact and also a deeper sub-context. But perhaps the technical problems of sticking to the novel were too great. As it was, the film ran $3.4M over its $6.9M budget. At the heart of 2001, lies the kernel of The Sentinel of Eternity. But now the artefact is a black monolith, 11 feet x 5 ft x 1¼ ft, which has been left buried for perhaps 3 million years. It was found, because of its intense magnetic field, by a team of American astronauts on the moon. When the ‘unmooned’ monolith (You can hardly unearth on the moon) is illuminated for the first time by the lunar sunrise, an event which occurs only once every 14 earth days, it emits an enormous shriek of radio-magnetic energy, a signal to its maker of its being uncovered. Once again, there is the theme of a warning, the tripping of a celestial alarm system.

The 1968 film was required viewing for the American astronauts before the Apollo 8 circling of the Moon at Christmas 1968 and the first moon landing in July 1969. During the 1972 real Moon landing of Apollo 15, the astronaut Jim Irwin became convinced of the help he got from the real Sentinel of Eternity. He felt it was as though they were being guided. He felt clearly the precision of God on the Moon. They left behind on the moon-rover a quiet symbol linking to the Sentinel of Eternity, a Bible. It indicated a rather higher level of intellectual achievement and morality, at least as far as the New Testament was concerned, than did the garish false god adorning the mudguards, the Stars and Stripes. However, any aliens finding it millions of years hence will wonder at the confused beliefs of the race of men that once inhabited the fragile earth.

I must admit to always having found myself rather lost in the third part of the film, 2001. The development of the story in the book is so much clearer. This final sequence in the film revolves around Jupiter, but in the book the end sequence takes place on Iapetus, one of the moons of Saturn, with the magnificence of the rings of that great planet as an incredible backdrop. Perhaps the technical effects required for that were just too great. But the whole connecting sequence of TMA-2, the Big Brother of TMA-1 on the moon, was lost, together with the deeper meanings in the Codes of Destiny for mankind.

By ‘strange coincidence’, in recent days, during mid September 2007, I have been led to look again at the novel 2001 - A Space Odyssey. This was triggered by my seeing in the Foreign News section of the NZ Herald on Friday, 14th September, the first ever close-up images of Iapetus from the probe Cassini. That left the Earth on its long journey on 15th October 1997. There were just two smallish photographs on page B2. ’Mountainous terrain reaching about 10 km into the air along a unique equatorial ridge, and dark material that splatters the walls and floors of craters in the surreal, frozen wastelands’ reads the caption. There is no mention of the great mystery of Iapetus, its two-tone, black and white surface zones. Below the article was a half page advertisement from the latest NZ Herald supplement commemorating the anniversary of Paschendale. Quite why the NZ Herald is in such a hurry to celebrate the anniversary of Paschendale (October 12th) on September 17th is unclear. I suppose it gets it out of the way, otherwise it might clash with more important matters like the All Blacks winning the Rugby World Cup. In that self-promotional advert, there are two soldiers in gas masks. Suddenly I was reminded of a Dr. Who programme – London 1941 and gas masks, ‘Mummy!’ and some other higher source of intelligence. Of course, to the Ancient Egyptians, the mummy was their way of providing a home for the soul for eternity.

The front page news was all about the publicity-seeking McCanns, although it seems to have backfired on them. But heart-wrenching, human-interest stories are what sate the media, the pushy parents and the photos of the unfortunate little girl, the test tube baby. Funny she disappeared on 3rd May – 503 – Code 503 and The Diagram of Truth. And then they went for an audience with the Pope in St. Peter’s Square – odd little Fragments, indeed……|

But those photos of Iapetus rang a bell. That was the ‘target’ in the novel, the destination of the signal from TMA-1 on the Moon. And it was on Iapetus that Bowman came through the Star Gate, which was TMA-2. When I read that novel last year, I reached that part ‘through the Stargate’ at 12.01 am on 14th September 2006. The photograph of Iapetus was published in the NZ Herald of 14th September 2007. Code 914 is common to both. Today is 19th September. In The Dorset Disaster, the American unclear power station accident occurs at 9.14 am on 19th September. (The typing error has been left intentionally. After all, it is unclear which one it will be.)

Now our house power meter is showing 68887.78 at 9.16.30, Codes for fear and terror and official deception. Therefore 68887.7 was at 9.14 on ‘Dorset Disaster Day’. This was the point I had reached in writing this article. I had stopped to go and make tea and toast.

[Now editing 28/9/7 – I thought Jenny said a little while ago that it was 5.05 on the cooker clock. I came to take a photo but missed 5.07. It is now 5.08 – the disaster in space. ‘Let there be light!’ – signs from space over Texas. Columbia was the man-made comet.]

Code 877 is ‘fear and terror’, a Code derived from an astronomical source in Washington D.C. Why 688 is cross-connected I do not know. It is as though the Codes are indeed complex, cryptic crosswords in numbers – like I show in part on the cover of our book The Alpha and Omega Codes. The idea came to me to use a gravestone. That 2004 idea links to Part 4 of the 2007 book, Fragments of an Outer Mind, Vol. 4. The title, Grave Expectations, just came to me.

But why and how 688 links into the Dorset Disaster is unclear. The first part of the Chicksands Lockerbie clue, which came to fulfilment on 11th September 2001, cross-connected with Princess Diana and that fateful Fayed-Windsor auction on 11th September 1997. Odd – today’s date is also 19.9.7. Wallace’s container 2268831 – but that is a later disaster….. And Diana’s death was predicted by the Code 558 in her passport – another cross-link, Death, Egypt and the Muslim World.

It is a though the Source of Intelligence puts various clues in various books and other elements out in the world in general – elements of Truth, truly Fragments of an Outer Mind for us to find and put together at a time which is right. They are all part of the Enigmas of Space and Time.

There is much more in the film 2001, links between NASA’s SETI and the Egyptian pharaoh Seti, 3300 years ago. These are discussed in our book The Diagrams of Truth. Also described are the manifold strange coincidences which were woven around the 5th anniversary of 9/11, proof of my conclusion that 9/11 was the ‘Hammer of God’ for America. And that concept came via another of Arthur C. Clark’s novels, Hammer of God. Exactly how is described in Diagrams of Truth. And Volume 4, Grave Expectations, a year on, carries the precise confirmation of that early hypothesis, with astonishing Code repeats.

But before dismissing it all as nonsense because it is not what you want to hear, certainly not what any of the world’s media dare suggest, think on the following.  In his 1973 novel, Rendezvous with Rama, Arthur C. Clarke sets a hypothetical future asteroid impact on 11th September 2007. Why did he pick 11th September? Well, in 2001, with 28 years having elapsed since the book appeared, Arthur couldn’t remember, as he commented in a letter to me.

But was it really just random chance that led him to pick that date? Or was he inspired by the Source of Intelligence to add a clue which no one would even notice until 2001 and which no one would comprehend until I did in 2006? On the face of it, there is a 1 in 365 probability it was random chance. But the odds against its being chance are really millions to one against, for he also picked the time as 9.46 am. He wrote The Sentinel of Eternity for a BBC short story competition at Christmas, 1948.  As I re-read the later part of 2001 on 16th September, the idea came to me to check the volume of the monolith 11x5x1¼ feet. It is 68.75 cu.ft, 688 to three significant figures, or exactly 1.946 m3.

It was on 14th September 2007, that the rejection letter was sent off to us in response to our application for a $35,000 writing prize from the Copyright Licensing Ltd Awards here in New Zealand. That application had been surrounded by so many incredible coincidences, both as we wrote it and as we delivered it to the CLL offices on Auckland’s North Shore on 16th July 2007. The powerful story of that application begins Volume 4 of Fragments of an Outer Mind – Grave Expectations.

But a central element of that experience on 16th July revolved around Code 946, for the CLL offices are on bus route 946, and also bus route 911. And Code 946 is to be found at the core of 9-11. The aircraft which destroyed the two towers of the temple of Mammon, flown by Mohammed Atta on AA11 and Marwan el Shehhi on UA175, were both Boeing 767s. The former was N334AA and the latter N612UA. Any older person modestly competent with a brain, or a young one with a calculator, handy cellphone or computer, will quickly be able to add 334+612 to get 946. You can check the aircraft identities on Wikipedia or various plane spotter sites. Plane spotting is the modern equivalent of my preferred study – ferroequinology, the much-maligned trainspotting.

So, not only did Arthur C. Clarke pick a date that was significant, with 11th September in Rendezvous with Rama, he also managed to pick a second, even more precise element. His time is the sum of the actual identities of the two halves of the actual Hammer of God…Code 946.   But did he really pick that time and date?  Or were they chosen for him and the ideas put into his mind? 

Do these strange precise coincidences not suggest that Arthur C Clarke was inspired by God as he began that novel circa 1972, and that God was indicating in advance that He knew the precise details of the End of the Twin Towers before the buildings were even finished?  Ground breaking for the World trade Centre took place on 5th August, 1966.  No 1 WTC was ready for tenants in late 1970 but the upper floors were not completed until late 1972.  No. 2 WTC was finished in 1973.  The official dedication took place on 4th April, 1973.  Clarke's novel Rendezvous with Rama was published in 1973.

As for the 2077, that too appeared strongly in our experiences a few days after our CLL application. For 20th July 2007 is 20-7-7. It also marked the anniversary of the day Man first set foot on a world other than his own. Neil Armstrong stepped onto the Moon, with his ‘one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.’

The Sentinel of Eternity had been set by Arthur on the Moon in his 1948 short story and his competition entry failed, just as did ours. What he wrote did not appeal to one lot of cognoscenti, just as what I wrote didn’t either, to another lot, 61 years on and 12,000 miles away. The standard rejection letter was sent off to us on 14th September, 9-14, the day the Iapetus photo appeared in the Herald.  We received it on 17th September. I had begun to re-read 2001 on 16th September.   I call the asteroid impact which he describes in Rendezvous with Rama as a ‘Hammer of God’, because of his later, much more detailed, reworking of that same theme in his 1992 novel of that name. Hammer of God came about from another short story, one he wrote for a special ‘Prophecy’ edition of Time magazine, 'Towards the Year 2000. published in September 1992, only a couple of weeks after I was ‘given’ the 9/11 Chicksands Lockerbie prophecy coincidence Code.

He expanded that story into a full length novel, published as The Hammer of God. I found a remainder copy of that book on 18th August 2000 as I was sending back to the Tate Gallery the slides of John Martin’s paintings The Last Judgement and The Plains of Heaven. What particularly struck me was the ISBN for that book. The 10-digit ISBN is 1-85723-229-1. The 13-digit one is 978-1857 23-229-5. [Just after I had come back from Hut 3 after getting the exact ISBNs from the book, Jenny told me the breadmaker had just beeped. The bread was ready – at 6.00 exactly on the cooker, the Armageddon Code. The kitchen clock showed 11.17 am. Since 1988, 229 has been the principal Code for the End of the World. (NB: ADD IN 459 – CNs 334/612 – 26/9/7 – Add FN)]

The first painting in that Judgement Triptych by John Martin is called The Great Day of His Wrath. It well illustrates the consequences of an asteroid impact with the earth, long before such impacts were imagined…. So, am I making connections where there are none? Or am I seeing threads that God put there for us to find, to see the truth behind the lies that all politicians, and most priests, tell?

The most dangerous politicians are the ones with the most power and they don’t come any more dangerous than George Bush. In the run-up to the new Millennium, one born-again Christian wrote a novel where the President of the United States was a consummate force for evil in the End Times. Well, on the eve of the new Millennium, he was proved right. Look who was elected in 2000 and look what happened in 2001!

So, next 9/11, on the seventh anniversary, ask if it is wise for America once again to put two fingers up to God….

A few brave Americans have dared to question the ‘truth’ preferred by the sheep, as put out by the 1984-style ‘Ministry of Truth’, aka most of the American media. Professor Ward Churchill of the University of Colorado wrote a book Some People Push Back – On the Dangers of Roosting Chickens. He dared to suggest that America had reaped what it had sown with its unjust and self-seeking foreign policies since World War II. He was sacked from his job. Such is the reality of freedom of speech, freedom of ideas in the so-called ‘land of the free and home of the brave’. It is just another myth, well embroidered, like the Exodus of the ‘chosen people’. If the Exodus was an historical event, why could the chroniclers not even manage to record the name of Pharaoh? They managed it with Shishak!   It is just another Biblical Enigma.

The moon Iapetus is named after a Titan, the father of Prometheus. Prometheus gave men fire, linked to nuclear power, one of only two elements between hydrogen and uranium which do not exist on earth, Prometheum, No. 61, is to be found only in the decay products of an atomic pile. Technetium is the other gap, at 43. All the moons of Saturn are named after the Titans who, with Cronos, fought a ten year war in Thessaly against Zeus and the gods of Olympus. Zeus won and the Titans were banished to an island far to the west. Atlas was condemned to carry the world on his shoulders (model in my study – IMAGE). These are all myths, exactly on a par with the Jewish myths of the Old Testament. Unfortunately, for some reason, most Christians take Jewish myths to be historically true but, not Greek ones. Is Moses and the burning bush and the creation of the tablets of the Ten Commandments out of fresh air any more factual a story than the myth of the Minotaur? Are they both not tales which are, at best, very heavily embroidered, that is if either has any basis in truth at all?

The name Saturn derives from the Greek Satos, meaning ‘sown’. Saturn was an ancient Mediterranean god of agriculture who came later to be associated with Cronos, who travelled on to Italy after he was deposed by Zeus. His temple in Rome was consecrated in 497 BC. Saturnalia, his festival, was celebrated on 17th December. (Note: Eric’s Vision – 17th December 1991)

From the 4th century, Saturnalia was celebrated on New Year’s Day. And to mark the first day of the new millennium, New Millennium Day, there was, quite uncharacteristically, an inspired piece of programme scheduling. NZ TV2 broadcast the film 2001 - A Space Odyssey on New Year’s Day, 1st January 2001. And 2001 was to be a year which produced events which have very much changed our world for the worse. These events have dramatically increased the pace to Armageddon. But the Sentinel of Eternity knew exactly what was to come. The prophecy elements in The Four Jigsaws are quite conclusive in that regard.

But there is far, far more, as will be discovered from reading Volumes 3 and 4 of Fragments of an Outer Mind. Volume 3 is Kismet and the Key to Space and Time, Volume 4  is Grave Expectations. These books show clearly how God weaves His warnings so strongly in our world of today, in its Last Days. He gave another sign in the sky, with the eclipse of the moon on 28th August.

Joel 2.31: The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.

In an eclipse of the moon, only light refracted by the earth’s atmosphere reaches the moon’s disc which, as a result, looks dull and reddish. My photographs on a longer exposure show it hanging in the sky, a red disc, looking for all the world like Mars, the red planet with its God of War connection, amongst the white stars.

By coincidence, 28th August is Armageddon Day to the east of the dateline in The Nostradamus Inheritance. That is another inspired novel, with so many cross-connections into the Webs of Destiny. Full eclipses of the moon are rare. The last one visible in New Zealand was on 16th August 2000, Day 229 of the year. Remember Code 229? It is the Code for the End Times. The coincidence of 229 is at the heart of the film, The Seventh Sign.

And then there was the precision of the Hand of Artenn, the end of the rainbow at power pole number 2228 at 5.57 pm on the 6th anniversary of 9/11. Am I choosing to pick out signals in the noise that suit me? Or am I detecting a real signal in the apparently random noise of world events? The signal to noise ratio was a problem I struggled with in 1971 and 1972 as I tried to detect a photo-electron signal from inorganic halides at high temperatures. But as time goes by, it becomes ever clearer to me that the situation now is much more akin to that of SnCl2 than CdCl2. The signals are very strong, way above the random noise. They are just too clear, too repetitive. It has to be design. There is a Hand at the end of that key, not a string tied to a blind operating the transmitter key at the vagaries of the wind.

There were many other strange cross-connections between September 2006 and September 2007, with so many coincidences re-emphasising Saturn, 2001 and Arthur C. Clarke, one year on. These, together with the events of 2006, form part of Volume 5 of Fragments of An Outer Mind – The Two Final Frontiers. This brings us back to another connection, the link between death and space. Were the Ancient Egyptians once again really closer to the truth than the technological, unfeeling robot which is more and more the nature of the modern man and woman?

Are you really sure that these incredible coincidences are all just random chance? Or is it just that you dare not face the only alternative possibility, that it is all Design? If so, there must be a Designer, the real Sentinel of Eternity, the One who sees through time, but it outside time.

I had barely finished my first edit of this article when a whole new sequence of meaningful coincidences began. These will be found in Biblical Enigmas.
